| Abstract | |
This study focuses on processes related to the current movement of universitization of teaching, with the aim to describe and characterize ways by which primary teachers (Ensino Fundamental, cycles I and II) received, read and intook educational academic texts. This investigation was performed under an ethnographic approach and used, as empirical reference, the PEC - University Development, a teaching development program on College level, implemented by the São Paulo State Board of Education in partnership with University of São Paulo, the Catholic University of São Paulo and Paulista State University. From the theoretical underpinnings offered by cultural history, cultural sociology, linguistics and also by the cognitive psychology, reading is understood as the result of dialogical relations established between the order of discourse which imposes itself and the appropriation of texts done by the reader. In this way, the following questions are made: which representations, practices and knowledge were involved in the readings the teachers participating in the research did from the educational academic texts offered in that development setting? How did those readings affect them? Which effects did those discourses suffer, influenced by those readings? The observations and analyses done revealed that the acting of several mechanisms, presented in that context and in the texts read, enabled the implementation of a \'new reading pattern\' - closer to the academic model - among the teachers. Moreover, the attitudes and procedures assumed by the teachers suggested the existence of a typical teacher\'s professional reading, characterized, among other aspects, by a rationality practice which many times enabled them to subvert the order of discourses presented in those texts and, thus, elaborate alternative meanings. The factors identified in the relations of teachers with the educational texts provoked considerations on the temporality of uses in the teacher\'s professional readings, characterized by mobility traces and diversity. In addition, the centrality of their knowledge and practical interests for the configuration of the professional readings reaffirms the importance of educational culture shared among teachers as a source of more appropriate knowledge for teaching and as a teaching development axis.
