Abstract

The objective of this research is to make a reading of João Guimarães Rosas work, questioning which kind of wilderness the writer addresses, as well as what is the vision of modernizing country presented in fiction. Looking confirm that wilderness borns as modern, it is configured as a territory of the capital and specializes in the production of livestock, its allowed to wonder how the writer broke away from the condition of subordinated subject in merchandisings world to transpose into his artistic creation a critical reflexion in the world in which he lived. The study tracks the possibilities of a dialogue between literature and geography, considering how the former can contribute to the second and vice versa. (AU)
