Abstract

(EN) The present invention relates to a method for protecting transformers against internal faults. In summary, the method disclosed in the present invention is intended to increase the detection sensitivity of internal faults in equipment, primarily power transformers, but can also be used to detect internal faults in other equipment such as motors, generators, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, transmission lines and even combinations of more than one piece of equipment in the protection zone. The present method works by increasing the sensitivity to internal faults, thereby decreasing the actuation times and helping to reduce equipment damage as a result of the protection provided.
