Valter Vieira de Camargo

Valter Vieira de Camargo holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering and is currently Full Professor in the Department of Computing at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), where he has been serving since 2009. He earned his bachelor's degree in Data Processing from FATEC Taquaritinga (1998), his master's degree in Software Engineering from UFSCar (2001), and his doctoral degree in Software Engineering from the University of São Paulo (ICMC/USP) (2006). In 2013, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Twente, Netherlands.He served as Coordinator of the Computer Science undergraduate program for four years (20152018), Deputy Head of Department for two years (20192020), and Head of Department for another two years (20212022). His research focuses on software engineering, with an emphasis on system modernization, artificial intelligence applied to software engineering, adaptive systems, software architecture, system modularization, and design patterns.Professor Camargo currently coordinates the AdvanSE research group (Advanced Research on Software Engineering) and has supervised numerous master's and doctoral students. He has published over 150 papers in national and international conferences and journals. Throughout his career, he has received several awards, including: Best Paper Award at the 1st (2004) and 2nd (2005) Brazilian Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Software Development; Second Best Doctoral Thesis in the 5th Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality (SBQS 2007); Best Paper Award at the 7th Latin-American Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Software Development (2013); and Fourth Best Paper at the Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering (SBES 2012). He has also contributed to the organization of prominent national events, such as CBSoft 2018, the largest Brazilian event focused on software development. Additionally, he serves as an institutional evaluator for INEP (Ministry oValter Vieira de Camargo holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering and has been serving as an Associate Professor IV in the Department of Computing at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) since 2009. He currently coordinates the AdvanSE research group (Advanced Research on Software Engineering) and has supervised numerous master's and doctoral students.He has authored over 150 papers in national and international conferences and journals.
