Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics, College of Medicine, University of Kentucky, U.S. BSc in Biomedicine at the Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina, Brazil (2010). MS.c (2013) and Ph.D. degree (2017) in the School of Medicine, University of São Paulo. He completed a Ph.D. internship at the Center for Virus Research - University of Glasgow, Scotland ( 2015-2016). Postdoctoral at the University of São Paulo with an internship at the University of Oxford (2017-2021) and the University of Texas Medical Branch (2021-2024). Member of the International Committee of Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) - Peribunyaviridae Study Group and Hepeviridae Study Group. He has experience in virology, working on the discovery and characterization of potential new emerging viruses, as well as investigating the transmission dynamics and severe outcomes caused by emerging viruses.
