Graduated in Dentistry from the University of São Paulo (FOUSP) in 1986, completed a Master's in Oral Diagnosis from FOUSP in 1989, a Ph.D. in Oral Pathology from FOUSP in 1994, and obtained Free Teaching qualification at FOUSP in 2000. Conducted Postdoctoral research at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, USA, in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the New Jersey Dental School in 2006 and 2007. Since 2007, has been a Full Professor in the Discipline of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the School of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo. Has been coordinating the Special Patient Care Center at FOUSP since 2000, serving as the Coordinator of the Special Dentistry Specialization Course at the Foundation of the School of Dentistry of USP, and also coordinating the Dentistry League for Patients with Special Needs at the XXV de Janeiro Academic Center of FOUSP. Served as the head of the Stomatology Department at FOUSP from 2019 to 2023. Has been the Secretary-General of USP since January 26, 2022. A CNPq level 2 researcher, with expertise in Dentistry, focusing on Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine, and Special Patients. Primarily involved in research on oral aspects and clinical dental management of systemically compromised patients, particularly those with diabetes, renal diseases, oncology patients, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, Mobius syndrome, Williams syndrome, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
