Birthplace: Brazil

Holds a bachelor's degree (2001), master's degree (2002) and doctorate (2005) in Mechatronics Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP), a postdoctoral degree (2006) from the São Paulo School of Economics (FGV) and a postdoctoral degree (2007-2008) from the University of Pennsylvania Health System. He was a researcher at Yale University - School of Medicine (2008-2010) and Adjunct Professor II at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP, SJC campus), where he served as Coordinator of the Biomedical Engineering Course (2011-2013). He was Assistant Director at the Laboratory for Computational Neurodiagnostics (Dept. of Biomedical Engineering, Stony Brook University, SUNY) from 2014-2016. Since 2016, he has been working as an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University and is currently a Research Engineer at Lockheed Martin in Artificial Intelligence. He has experience in the areas of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering, with emphasis on Embedded Intelligent Systems, Probabilistic Models, Biomedical Images and Biological Signal Analysis, working mainly on the following topics: Bayesian networks, approximate inference algorithms, Monte Carlo Markov Chain simulation methods, and application of Artificial Intelligence techniques in macroeconomic and financial forecasting. Since 2007, he has been dedicated to Biomedical Image Processing techniques, Segmentation and Registration of images obtained by magnetic resonance and methods of functional connectivity of the brain. He led funded projects in the area of functional connectivity analysis of patients with epilepsy (Young Researcher, FAPESP) and assistive technology for digital inclusion of physically disabled people using brain signals (CNPq). Previously, he was co-Principal Investigator in a FAPESP Thematic Project on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Neuroimaging component. He was co-leader of the Biomedical Investigation Group by Images and Signals (GIBIS) from 2011-2012. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
