Graduated (1993) in Theoretical & Experimental Physics from the Physics Institute of São Carlos (IFSC) - University of Sao Paulo (USP) (1993), Masrter of Science (MSc) in Applied Optics from the same institute (1996), PhD in Applied and Physiological Optics by the IFSC - USP (2000) with sandwich (1998-1999) at the Vision Science Department - University of California at Berkeley (USA). Accomplished three post-doctorates: (1) Paulista School of Medicine - UNIFESP (2001-2004), (2) was employed as a researcher at the University of Rochester -New York during the years 2005-2006 and is currently a research coordinator of the ophthalmic optics laboratory of the Optics Group of the IFSC-USP, (3) IFSC-USP and is now Assistant Professor of the Graduate School Paulista de Medicina - UNIFESP. Has extensive experience in the field of Biomedical Engineering and education in optics, with emphasis on Ophthalmic Optics, more than 100 papers published in refereed journals and conferences, 17 chapters in books and is editor of a book on physiological optics. He is inventor of 10+ tools / techniques in the medical field with patents with the Brazilian Patents Office (INPI), reviewer of the following journals: Journal of Refractive Surgery, Optics Express, Journal of Ophthalmology, Journal of Ophthalmology, Clinical & Experimental Optometry, Investigative Ophthalmology & Vision Science (IOVS ), among others. He is also shareholder and founder of the technology and medical equipment company called Wavetek (www.wavetek.com.br), which produces medical equipment with 100% Brazilian technology. Today this company is one of the leaders in Latin America in the ophthalmic instrumentation segment and technology innovation.
