Prof. Frederico Yuri Hanai is a professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) on the São Carlos campus, São Paulo State, Brazil, teaching in the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Environmental Management and Analysis and in the Master's and Doctorate Programmes (accredited as a permanent supervisor) in the Postgraduate Programme in Environmental Sciences at UFSCar. He holds a postdoctoral degree from the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technologies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain (ICTA/UAB) and a postdoctoral degree from the Centre for Water Resources and Environmental Studies (CRHEA) at the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo (EESC/USP). He holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering Sciences, a Master's degree in Hydraulics and Sanitation, is a Specialist in Environmental Education and Water Resources, an Engineer from the University of São Paulo (EESC/USP), and a Specialist in Ecotourism, Education and Environmental Interpretation from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, participates in university extension projects, and conducts scientific research in the areas of Water Management, Watershed Management, Environmental Awareness and Communication, Sustainability, Tourism, and Local Development. He participates in the SUSTENTA Research Group (Sustainability and Environmental Management), which he leads, as well as the GEOTUR Research Group (Geography, Space, and Tourism).
