Alessandra Larissa D'Oliveira Fonseca

Ph.D. in Chemical and Geological Oceanography from the University of São Paulo (2004). Associate Professor of the Special Coordination in Oceanography at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, linked to the Undergraduate Courses in Oceanography and Post-Graduation in Geography and Oceanography. Developed Post-Doctorate at Louisiana State University (USA, 2013-2014) and at University of Algarve (PT, 2018-2019). The research focuses on marine pollution, with emphasis on eutrophication and plastic contamination, biogeochemical processes at the land-sea interface, and environmental education. Participates in the National Institute of Material Transfer Science and Technology at the Continente-Oceano Interface (INCT-TMCOcean) and in the Monitoring Network for Coastal Benthic Habitats (ReBentos). The extension activities promote Ocean Literacy at formal education. Mother of two daughters, born in 1996 and 1998, a period when there was no right to maternity leave in graduate school.
