Paulo Henrique Ferreira Galvão

Academic Background: Paulo Galvão holds a Bachelor's degree in Geology from the Geosciences Center at the Federal University of Pará (2007), a Master's degree in Hydrogeology of Porous Media from the Graduate Program in Geosciences at the Federal University of Pernambuco (2011), and a Ph.D. in Karst Hydrogeology from the Graduate Program in Mineral Resources and Hydrogeology at the University of São Paulo (2015). During his Ph.D., he spent a research period as a visiting scholar at the Boone Pickens School of Geology, Oklahoma State University, USA (2014).Professional and Academic Experience: he worked as a junior geologist at the environmental consulting company Fator Ambiental (2010-2011) and as a Hydrogeology professor in the Department of Geology at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (2016-2019). Since 2019, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geosciences (IGC) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he has coordinated the Graduate Program in Geology (PPGeol) since 2022. He is also one of the coordinators of the Hydrogeological Studies Laboratory (LEHID) at the Professor Manoel Teixeira da Costa Research Center (CPMTC/IGC/UFMG) since 2020. He holds a Research Productivity Grant from CNPq (PQ-2).Additional Activities: he is a member of the Brazilian Association of Groundwater (ABAS), where he serves on the National Deliberative Council, and the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH). Since 2025, he has been the Managing Editor of the journal Águas Subterrâneas (ABAS). He is also a reviewer for several national and international scientific journals.Research Interests: his research interests include hydrogeology of porous and karstic media, diagnosis and remediation of contaminated areas, stable isotopes (O18 and D), hydrogeochemistry, drilling of tubular wells, and groundwater resource management.
