Jurandir Itizo Yanagihara

Professor of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering at Escola Politécnica of the University of São Paulo. Director of Laboratory of Environmental and Thermal Engineering (LETE), Director of Comfort Engineering Center (CEC) and Coordinator of the New Processes and Operations Program of the Offshore Technology Innovation Centre (OTIC). Research Productivity Fellow of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq - Brazil) (Level 1B). Holds the following degrees and titles: Mechanical Engineer (University of São Paulo, 1984), M.Sc. (Eng.) (Yokohama National University, 1987), Ph.D. (Eng.) (Yokohama National University, 1990), Livre-Docente - Habilitation (University of São Paulo, 1996) and Full Professor (University of São Paulo, 2006). Conducts research on thermal engineering, energy, optimization, instrumentation and bioengineering. Supervised 21 doctoral thesis and 25 master's dissertations. Authored more than 200 scientific papers in indexed journals and peer-reviewed conferences. Holds three patents. Has been a keynote speaker at important international conferences such as the Int. Heat Transfer Conf., World Conf. on Experimental Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Room-Vent, among others. Has led research projects in the following topics: optimization, centrifugal compressor, supercritical CO2, energy storage, offshore primary processing, heat transfer enhancement, aircraft cabin comfort, modeling of heat and mass transport in bio-systems.
