Master´s Degree in Rural Sociology from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture University of São Paulo, PhD in Social Anthropology from the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences/USP, Associate Professor 2 at ESALQ/USP, currently Senior Professor at the same institution. It is linked to the Interunit Graduate Program in Applied Ecology-ESALQ / CENA at the University of São Paulo. In this Program, she advises masters and doctorates in the area of Environment and Society. It focuses on traditional and/or local communities such as quilombolas, riverside dwellers, settlers and indigenous societies, their challenges, problems and conflicts in their relationship with broader society. with emphasis on food security and sovereignty, sustainability and autonomy, public policies and development, water security. She has participated in interdisciplinary projects, seeking the theoretical and methodological interface between social and natural sciences, in processes that involve collaborative governance in socio-environmental issues. She has carried out extension work with rural communities, using local resources, particularly handicrafts with banana tree fibers, aiming at alternative occupations and income.
