Graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Industrial emphasis) from PUCCAMP (1984), with a Masters degree (1990) and PhD (1994) in Pharmacology from the University of São Paulo (USP). Completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular Neuropharmacology at USP (1997), followed by postdoctoral research in Neurology at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, USA (2000), and in Psychology at the Johns Hopkins School of Arts, USA (2000). Served as a FAPESP Young Investigator at the University of São Paulo Medical School (20012005) and as a research advisor in the Department of Psychiatry at the same institution.Currently, she is an Assistant Professor (with tenure) in the Department of Pharmacology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, USP (since 2008), and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of São Paulo Medical School (HCFMUSP) since 2020. She supervises graduate students in the Functional and Molecular Biology program with an emphasis on Pharmacology at ICB/USP.She participated in the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) on Developmental Psychiatry in Childhood and Adolescence, specifically contributing to the use of animal models for psychiatric disorders. She is an Associate Editor of Behavioral and Brain Functions (BMC-Springer Nature).Her research focuses on Pharmacology with an emphasis on Behavioral and Molecular Neuroscience. Main topics of investigation include aggressive behavior, nitric oxide, anxiety, serotonin, chronic psychosocial stress, depression, animal models of psychiatric disorders (mice), gene expression, behavioral genetics, social interaction, resilience, and adolescence. Core methodologies used in her lab include behavioral testing in rodents, analysis of brain gene expression (qPCR and NGS), and brain protein expression (immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry).
