Guilhermino José Macêdo Fechine has a degree in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Paraíba (1996), a master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Paraíba (1998), and a PhD in Chemistry from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2001). Research productivity researcher at CNPq (level B). He is a member of the Board of Directors of ABPol (Brazilian Polymer Association) and serves as its Director of Innovation and Technology. In 2025, he was the chairman of the 18th Brazilian Polymer Congress, held in Campos do Jordão from October 19th to 23rd. He has two postdoctoral internships at USP: one at the Chemistry Institute (2002 to 2005) in hydrogels, and the other at the Polytechnic School (2005 to 2007) in blends and composites based on biodegradable polymers. Visiting professor at the National University of Singapore - NUS throughout 2013, working in graphene transfer processes. He was a visiting researcher for a period of 1 month at Case Western Reserve University (Ohio, USA) in 2016, the Bulgarian Academy of Science (Sofia, Bulgaria) in 2018, and the Institute for Composite and Biomedical Materials IMCB (Portici, Italy) in 2019. Since 2008, he has been an undergraduate and postgraduate professor at Mackenzie Presbyterian University. He is a researcher at the Mackenzie Institute for Research in Graphene and Nanotechnology (MackGraphe). The current topics covered in their research include understanding the interactions between polymers (including biodegradable ones) and various 2D materials (graphene, MoS2, hBN, phosphorene, etc.), whether for developing new mixing strategies or for obtaining and characterizing polymer nanocomposites for different applications.
