Gustavo Dalpian graduated in Physics at the Federal University of Santa Maria, RS. He completed his master's (2000) and doctorate (2003) in Physics at the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo, where he studied the surface properties of semiconductor materials. For his doctoral thesis, he received an honorable mention in the 2004 Brazilian Physics Society Award for Best Doctoral Thesis. He is a member of the SBF. He did postdoctoral work at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and at the University of Texas at Austin, in the United States, where he carried out research on materials for energy and nanomaterials. In 2019 he obtained the title of Associate Professor at the Institute of Physics of São Carlos (USP). He is currently a Full Professor at the Institute of Physics at USP. Previously, he served as a professor at UFABC (2006-2023)where he coordinated the creation of the Graduate Program in Nanosciences and Advanced Materials at UFABC, where he was Vice-Rector (2010 - 2014) and Pro-Rector of Graduate Studies (2014-2016). He is a member of the Coordination of the Physics Area at FAPESP, and a member of the board of SBF. Visiting Professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA) in 2017/2018. He published more than 70 articles in specialized scientific journals, and his articles were cited more than 3000 times. He is a scientific reviewer for many of these journals and an associate editor for Discover Materials (Springer-Nature) magazine. He has given guest lectures at numerous national and international events, as well as at various teaching and research institutions. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
