Bachelor of Biological Sciences from the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo (1989), and Full Degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Education from the University of São Paulo (1990), Master in Biology/Genetics from the Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo (1994) and Ph.D. in Biology/Genetics Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo (1999). Currently, I am a Scientific Researcher at the Laboratory of Evology and Evolution, Instituto Butantan and my research covers topics related to the characterization and conservation of biodiversity, investigation of patterns and processes that supposedly led to the diversification of species, expansion or decrease of populations, using different lines of evidence: comparative cytogenomics, molecular systematics, phylogenetics, phylogeography, biogeography, integrative taxonomy. These approaches represent, currently, the starting point for broader studies related to the biodiversity crisis, climate crisis and the crisis generated by the pandemic - facts that highlight the importance of basic knowledge, including the hidden diversity and the characterization of our heritage genetic, for decision making in relation to the conservation of in situ organisms, ex situ conservation, preservation of natural environments with different phytophysiognomies, in order to prevent the encounter of wild fauna with man, which converges to issues related to public health.
