He has a degree in Physics - Universita degli Studi La Sapienza (1997), a PhD in Astronomy - Cornell University (2004), and Free Teaching in Orbital Dynamics (UNESP, 2014). The asteroid (10741) Valeriocarruba is named after this researcher. In 2023 he received the CELMEC award for the collection "Innovative Computational Methods in Dynamical Astronomy". He is currently assistant professor II in the Mathematics department at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) and a researcher with a level 1D productivity grant from CNPq.
