Carlos A. Castro obtained the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, respectively in 1982 and 1985, and the Ph.D. degree from Arizona State University, AZ, USA, in 1993. He had been with UNICAMP from 1983 to 2019, when he retired as a Full Professor. Currently he is a Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUC-Campinas) and an adjunct professor at UNICAMP. His teaching and research interests are in the Power Systems area, in special voltage stability, power systems operation and security, load flow methods, and transmission and distribution systems.
