Bachelor of Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1994), Master in Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1997), Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2001), and post doctorate from New York University. She is currently an Associate Professor in a Federal University in Sao Paulo State, Brazil. She is specialized in microbial communities associated with human body, and their role in health and diseases. Her research focuses on bacterial and fungal communities from human body, particularly skin microbiome. She is also interested in built environment microbiome and their association with human health.
