He graduated in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo in 1985, where he also completed a doctorate in medicine, in the area of #8203;#8203;hematology, in 1994. Currently, he works at the ABC School of Medicine, he is Full Professor of the Disciplines of Hematology and Oncology Works in a private practice in the city of São Paulo. He was elected Governor of the American College of Physician from 2010 to 2014. To date, Is the editor in chief of the Brazilian Journal of Oncology. He has published 308 full-length articles in national and international journals. He has written 63 book chapters and has 7 books published. He participated in 317 scientific events and courses in Brazil and abroad and presented more than 312 papers and lectures. He taught more than 370 classes at meetings, courses and scientific events and received 57 awards and/or honors. In his professional activities, he interacted with more than 400 collaborators in co-authorship of scientific works. He supervised 70 works at the undergraduate level, and in the postgraduate course 25 master's students and 13 doctoral students. He participated in 12 Examining Commissions for Qualification Examinations (Master's and Doctorate), 35 Judging Commissions for Dissertations and 46 for Doctoral Theses. He is a member of the editorial board of two Brazilian indexed journals (Revista da Associação Paulista de Medicina and Revista da Associação Médica Brasileira), the Cochrane Haematological Malignancies Group and the Journal of Pragmatic and Observational Research.
