He holds a Bachelors degree (1990), a Masters degree (1995), and a Ph.D. in Meteorology (2002) from the University of São Paulo (IAG/USP), with a FAPESP-funded postdoctoral fellowship at IAG-USP (20042006), including a research internship at Meteo-France (2004). Since 2006, he has been a Professor in the Department of Meteorology at the Institute of Geosciences, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Between 2017 and 2019, he served as Head of the Department of Meteorology at IGEO-CCMN-UFRJ and was the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Meteorology at UFRJ during 20092010 and 20112012. In 2021, he led the Thematic Chamber of Water and Environmental Resources of the UFRJ Environmental Forum. Additionally, he was an Associate Editor of the Revista Brasileira de Meteorologia from 2010 to 2024 and has been a scientific reviewer for various academic journals. Since December 27, 2024, he has held the position of Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program in Meteorology at UFRJ. His professional expertise spans the Geosciences, with a focus on Atmospheric Sciences, specializing in areas such as numerical modeling, hydrometeorology, urban climatology, radar, nowcasting, risk and hazard modeling for hydrometeorological events, landslide and flood modeling, satellite data assimilation (Hydroestimator/NOAA), and multi-hazard analysis.
