Bachelor's degree in Physics (Computational Physics) from the University of São Paulo (1996), a Masters degree (1998), and a Ph.D. (2003) in Computational Physics from the same institution. In 2012, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California. She currently holds the position of Full Professor in the Department of Computing at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), Brazil. Her academic and research activities are primarily focused on the field of Computer Science, with emphasis on Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning. Her work involves the development of advanced computational tools and intelligent systems for the analysis and interpretation of images, aiming at knowledge extraction and the identification of regions of interest. These efforts encompass multidisciplinary applications, including the analysis of biomedical images, materials characterization, and industrial process monitoring. She has received several distinctions for her contributions, including First Place in the Cervical Cell Segmentation Challenge at the IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), and the Best Student Paper Award in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Systems at the International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (ICEIS).
