Graduated in agronomy at the University of São Paulo (1963), doctor in agronomy (1965), free-docent in physics and meteorology (1968), PhD in soil science at University of California (1971) and full professor in physics and meteorology, all at the University of São Paulo. Currently retired senior full at the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA), of the University of São Paulo, Piracicaba, SP, Brazil. Fields of interest: Applied Physics, soil water, neutron probes, soil hydrulic conductivity, gammaray attenuation, soil tomography, water balance, soil variability, geostatistics, use of isotopes as markers in field experimentation, agrometeorology, soil physics and crop productiuon.
