Jurist, Professor and Researcher. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and General Theory of Law at the University of São Paulo Law School. He completed a doctoral internship with FAPESP at the Université de Lyon (II and III) and the Université de Paris (Sorbonne II and IV) in France. He holds a PhD (1999) and a Livre-Docente (2003) from the Philosophy and General Theory of Law Department of the University of São Paulo Law School. He defended his thesis (2011) at USP Law School. He was Scientific Director of the Brazilian Association of Law Teaching (ABEDI, 2006-2008). He was Executive Secretary (2007-2009) and President of the National Human Rights Association (ANDHEP, 2009-2010). He was a Senior Researcher at USP's Centre for the Study of Violence (NEV-USP, 2006-2010). He was a full member of the Board of the UNESCO Chair on Education for Peace, Human Rights, Democracy and Tolerance at USP's Institute for Advanced Studies (IEA-USP, 2007-2010). She was a member of the National Committee for Human Rights Education (SEDH, 2008-2010). He was a member of the CAPES Law Area Committee (2010). He was 2nd Vice-President of the Brazilian Association of Philosophy of Law (ABRAFI IVR, 2009-2016). He was the Human Rights Education Coordinator for the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship of the City of São Paulo (2013-2016). He has trained 31 Masters and 13 Doctors. Organised 97 scientific events (seminars, congresses, lectures). Delivered 28 conferences and 197 lectures 197 lectures at national (22 Brazilian states) and international events. He has published scientific articles in several languages (Portuguese; English; Spanish; French), in scientific journals in Brazil (Direito Praxis; Seqüência; Informação Legislativa; Direitos Fundamentais e Justiça) and around the world (Revue Interdisciplinaire dÉtudes Juridiques; Derechos y Libertades; Human Rights Education Review; International Journal for the Semiotics of Law; Actes Sémiotiques; Portughese Studies). He has published 54 book chapters, 90 national articles in scientific journals, 23 national articles in newspapers and 46 international articles. He has published 13 authored books, 1 co-authored book, 5 coordinated collective books and 9 co-organised collective books published in Brazil. He has published 4 international books. He is Coordinator of the USP and CIRSFID Agreement, Alma Mater Studiorum, Università di Bologna (Italy). He has taken part in meetings and congresses abroad, in Lebanon, Portugal (Coimbra; Lisbon), Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Africa, the United States, Canada, France, Australia, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland and Poland. He has taken part in Meetings at the Goethe University, Frankfurt Am Main (Frankfurt, 2010), the New School for Social Research (New York, 2012) and the Centre Chaïm Perelman de lUniversité Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium, 2019). She was a member of the International Congress at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2016). He was Visiting Professor at the Università di Bologna (Italy, 2017), Visiting Professor at the Université Paris-Nanterre (France, 2018), Visiting Researcher at the Collège de France (France, 2019), Visiting Professor at the University of Coimbra (Portugal, 2023-2024) and Chercheur Invité at the Université Paris Cité (France, 2024-2). He is a member of the Board of the Department of Philosophy and General Theory of Law at FDUSP. He has 30 years' experience in scientific research (FAPESP; CNPq) and is a CNPq level 1-B researcher. He is Doctor Honoris Causa (UFMT, 2024). He is a member of national and international research networks. He is a Member of the Association for Semiotic Studies (IASS/ AIS 2025); Member of the Association Française de Sémiotique (AFS, 2025). He has published the books Semiotics, Law Art (Springer, 2021) and La formation de la loi (Academia, 2025). He is currently developing the relationship between Semiotics of Law and Theory of Law.
