Full-Professor of the University of São Paulo (USP) since 2008. Graduated in Computer Science from Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho (IBILCE - UNESP - 1992), MS in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP - 1993) and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP - 1997) . He is currently a Full-Professor in the Department of Computer Science - IME - USP. He is a Researcher of the InovaUSP. He is a member of the Coordination at FAPESP since 2006. He was Director of the Bioinformatics Research Center at USP. He has experience in computer science, with emphasis on computer vision, pattern recognition, image processing, bioinformatics and eScience. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
