Graduated in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Electronics from EESC/USP in 1996, received a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from EESC/USP in 1999, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from EESC/USP in 2005. Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (USA) between 2012 and 2013. Obtained the title of Associate Professor in the field of Medical Image Processing and Computer Vision from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 2018. Director of the Laboratory on Advanced Vision and Imaging (LAVI) at EESC/USP. Conducts research in the field of Biomedical Engineering, with emphasis on digital image processing and computer vision, focusing mainly on the following topics: medical imaging, digital mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, image noise filtering, image restoration, simulation of noise in medical images, radiation dose reduction, artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, deep learning, and computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems. Served as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering at EESC/USP (PROEX/CAPES) from 2023 to 2025. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
