Fernando Seliprandy Fernandes

Assistant Professor in the Department of History (Dehis) at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). Deputy Coordinator of the Bachelor's Program in History-Memory and Image (Dehis/UFPR). Professor in the Postgraduate Program in History (PPGHIS/UFPR). Co-editor of the journal 'História: Questões e Debates' (A1). Researches the history and the memory of the Brazilian Military Regime through audiovisual sources. Author of the books 'Memória intergeracional: ditaduras, documentário, subjetividade' (2025) and 'A luta armada no cinema: ficção, documentário, memória' (2015), among other book chapters and academic articles in national and international journals. Bachelor's and teaching degree in History from University of São Paulo (USP). PhD and Master's degree in Social History also from USP, researching the relationships between history, memory, and cinema in the representations of the dictatorships in Brazil and the Southern Cone. Post-doctorate with Fapesp scholarship (process no. 2021/07062-8) at the School of Communications and Arts (ECA) of the USP, with a project on audiovisual archives from the 150 years of Brazilian Independence in 1972. Currently developing a research on the civil-military propaganda based on audiovisual archives from the period of the Brazilian dictatorship (1964-1985). Worked as a contracted professor of Theory of History at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) (1st semester 2022); substitute professor in the Department of History at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) (2019-2020); and research fellow of the National Program for Research Support of the National Library Foundation (2021). Was a Visiting student at the Centro di studi interdisciplinare su memorie e traumi culturali (TraMe), University of Bologna (Unibo), Italy (Oct. 2016 to Mar. 2017). Conducted research internships at the Centro de Investigación y Nuevos Estudios sobre Cine (CIyNE), University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina (Sep. to Nov. 2014).
