Dr. Machado holds a medical degree from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) (1979), a Master's Degree in Infectious and Parasitic Diseases from UNIFESP (1989) and a Ph.D. in Infectious and Parasitic Diseases from the University of São Paulo (USP) (1996). From 1998 to 2000, Dr. Machado occupied a postdoctoral position at the Clinical Virology Laboratory, University of Minnesota, MN, USA. She has developed her professional activities in the field of infections in hematopoietic stem cell and solid organ transplantation, including viral infections, respiratory virus infections, tropical and neglected diseases and vaccination of transplant recipients. Currently, Dr. Machado is a senior investigator at the Virology Laboratory of the Institute of Tropical Medicine, University of São Paulo School of Medicine (IMT-FMUSP). She is the coordinator of the Infectious Diseases Program at the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Unit of Amaral Carvalho Foundation in Jahu, SP. Dr. Machado has participated as council member of the International Immunocompromised Host Society (ICHS, 2008-2016) and Transplant Infectious Diseases, a section of The Transplantation Society (TID-TTS). Dr. Machado was the President of TID-TTS from 2017 to 2019. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
