Graduated in Medicine from the School of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of São Paulo (1972), MSc (1978) and PhD (1981) at the Universidade de São Paulo (1978), postdoctoral training at the University of California in San Francisco (1985-86), Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle (1987-88) and Scrpps Research Institute, San Diego, CA (1999-2000). He has experience in Clinical Immunology and Transplantation, specially in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for autoimmune diseases and blood disorders, diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases and selection of donors for kidney and bone marrow transplantation.
