Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Escola Paulista de Medicina, Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). He holds a degree in Biochemical Pharmacy from São Paulo State University (UNESP) and a master's and Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences through the interinstitutional program UFSCar/UNESP, including a doctoral internship at Tufts University (Boston, USA). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship supported by FAPESP at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences UNESP, and another postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA/NIH) in Baltimore (USA), where he developed innovative approaches using viral vectors, transgenic animals, and flow cytometry to study neuronal ensembles involved in drug relapse. In 2022, he undertook a sabbatical at Université Sorbonne, in Paris (France), strengthening his international collaborations in the field of neuropsychopharmacology. His research focuses on investigating the molecular, neurochemical, and neuroendocrine mechanisms underlying disorders related to the use of psychoactive substances, using behavioral models and molecular biology techniques. He is the author of textbook chapters in pharmacology and substance use disorders. He received the Return Home Program Award from the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO). He served as president of the Latin American Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (LASBRA), contributing to the integration of Latin American research in alcoholism and neuroscience.
