Associate Professor at Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC). Obtained B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1989-2001), including an internship period at Centro Atómico Bariloche (Argentina) with FAPESP scholarships. Performed post-doctorate research at Ames National Laboratory/Iowa State University (2001-2003) funded by the United States Department of Energy (USDOE) and at Hiroshima University (2003-2008), funded by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS). Former Vice-Coordinator and Coordinator of the UFABC Physics Graduate Program (2016-2024), Vice-Coordinator and Coordinator of the UFABC Innovation Agency, (2010-2014), member of the Education, Research and Outreach Superior Council (ConsEPE), Center for Natural and Human Sciences Council (ConsCCNH) and Graduate Program in Physics Council. Current member of the Editorial Board for the Brazilian Journal of Physics (BJP), of the Management Comittee for the National Institute of Science and Technology in Advanced Quantum Materials (INCT-MQA), of the Board of Trustees for the Principia Institute, of the Scientific Technical Council for the International Relations Office at UFABC (CTC-ARI), faculty representative of the Board for the Postgraduate Program in Physics (PPG-FIS) and permanent advisor of the Postgraduate Program in Nanosciences and Advanced Materials (PPG-NMA). Founder and leader of the Quantum Materials Group (GMQ) focused in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, with emphasis on Emergent Quantum States in Advanced Materials: design and discovery of novel materials exhibiting strongly correlated electrons, thermoelectricity, magnetism, superconductivity, quantum criticality and non-trivial topology.
