He earned his DVM (1999), MSc (2003), and PhD (2006) in Veterinary Medicine from São Paulo State University (UNESP), Jaboticabal, where he later completed two postdoctoral fellowshipsfirst in Equine Exercise Physiology and Pharmacology (20082010) at UNESP, and more recently (20232024) at Utrecht Universitys Equine Sciences Laboratory in the Netherlands. In 2018, he attained the rank of Livre-Docente (Habilitation) in Equine Exercise Physiology at UNESP. Currently an Associate Professor (MS-5.3) at UNESPs Faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences (FCAV), he teaches undergraduate courses in Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Equine Exercise Physiology, while advising graduate students in the Veterinary Sciences and Animal Science programs. As leader of the Equine Exercise Physiology Research Group (CNPq-certified), he oversees studies on lactate metabolism, performance physiology, and equine pharmacology. He also coordinates the Equine Exercise Physiology and Pharmacology Laboratory (LAFEQ) at UNESP, a hub for translational research in equine sports medicine. An active peer reviewer and ad-hoc consultant for agencies like FAPESP, his expertise spans clinical physiology, drug efficacy testing (MAPA compliance), and evidence-based therapies for athletic horses.
