Graduate at Pharmacy and Biochemistry from Federal University of Santa Maria (1989), Master's at Clinical Medicine from Universidade Estadual de Campinas UNICAMP (1994) and Ph.D. at Genetics and Molecluar Biology, Brazil and the New York Blood Center, New York, United States (2002). Post-graduation at Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany in tissue engineering: the use of nanotechnology with stem cell cultures(2008).
