This project aims to develop a Nielsen-Borsuk-Ulam theory for actions of finite groups, based on the theory of equivariant pre-images presented in Monis and Wong (2024). The main goal of this research project is to introduce the student to scientific research and writing. With this in mind, we propose an immersion in the basic ideas of geometric group theory, focusing on topics such as Cayley graphs and group actions, in order to provide the student with a broader understanding of the connections between geometry and algebra.
The main objective of this scientific initiation project is to initiate the student in research in Algebraic Topology. To this end, we will develop initial concepts of General Topology and culminate in the Surface Classification Theorem.
