With Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (1985), a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1988) and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1994). He is currently an Associate Professor (MS5) in the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (EPUSP), where he coordinates the New Materials and Devices Group (GNMD) at the Microelectronics Laboratory of EPUSP (LME-EPUSP). He is a specialist in obtaining, properties and application of new semiconductor and insulating materials. He is currently researching nanostructured materials (graphene and carbon nanotubes) and working on the development of Microfluidic Systems "Lab on Chip", MEMS and MOEMS, and Semiconductor Devices based on these materials. He is also currently researching chemical sensors and embedded electronic systems for the development of remote monitoring systems and portable and wearable sensors. He is currently the Vice-Coordinator of LME-EPUSP and is working towards the establishment of the "Advanced Laboratory of Microelectronics, Microsystems and Nanotechnology" (LAMINATEC), to function as a "Core Facility" of the University of São Paulo for micro and nano fabrication processes.
