Has a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Pelotas (1983), with a Masters in Agricultural Engineering from the State University of Campinas (1991) and PhD in Agricultural Engineering - University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1996). He is Professor at the University of São Paulo/ESALQ and CNPq Researcher. Has experience in the interface between agricultural machinery and precision agriculture, with emphasis on spatial variability, soil and plant sensors, yield maps, GNSS, variable rate applications. He has been the coordinator of the Brazilian Precision Agriculture Conference and President of the Brazilian Commission of Precision Agriculture, at the Ministry of Agriculture, since it was established in 2012, until 2016.
