Maria Orlanda Pinassi é graduada em Sociologia e Política pela Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo (1981). She holds a Master's degree in Sociology from the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1985) and a PhD in Social Sciences from the State University of Campinas (1996. She is a Free Lecturer in Sociology from the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2007). She worked as a professor Adjunct at the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Araraquara campus between 2000 and 2016. She is currently a retired professor at the same University. In 2008 and 2009 she held the position of head of the Sociology department at the FCL / UNESP campus in Araraquara. Between 2006 and 2010 she was a full member, responsible for the Social Sciences area, of the Editorial Laboratory of FCL / UNESP Araraquara. Since 2003, she has been a member of the Editorial Committee of Margem Esquerda Magazine and since 2008, she has been a member of the Advisory Board of Herramienta Magazine (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Since preparing the originals for the book Para Além do Capital, by Boitempo Editorial, she has worked directly on the Brazilian edition of the work of István Mészáros. From 2003 onwards, she accompanied undergraduate and graduate students in Social Sciences at FCL / UNESP in Araraquara, in reading and deepening the Marxian conceptual universe (Marx, Lukács and Mészáros), as a tool for understanding contemporary problems. She coordinated the Work, Social Movements and Contemporary Sociability Study Group. It prioritized the orientation of theoretical and practical research on new forms of organization and sociability of the working class, above all those related to mass social movements with a focus on work, among which the MST stands out. She carried out the research project Ontological foundations of Brazilian reality - The protagonism of mass social movements with the objective of analyzing the MST, through the struggle of the women of Via Campesina, and its capacity to build a new sociability based on substantive equality and not just formal. For more than 10 years she worked as a collaborating teacher in the pedagogical project of the Escola Nacional Florestan Fernandes, Guararema, SP. She has experience in Sociology and Politics with an emphasis on Marxian theory and contemporary Marxist theory. It works mainly around the themes: Marx, István Mészáros, structural crisis of capital, social struggles, work, Brazil and Latin America.
