JEAN PIERRE SCHATZMANN PERON COMPLETED THE SPECIALIZATION IN BIOLOGY APPLIED TO HEALTH AT THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF LONDRINA IN 2003. HE FINISHED THE DOCTORATE IN IMMUNOLOGY [SP-CAPITAL] AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SAO PAULO IN MAY 2008. DURING HIS PHD HE VISITED THE LABORATORY OF PROF. HOWARD L. WEINER AT HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL, CENTER FOR NEUROLOGIC DISEASES, BOSTON, MA. HIS LAB IS CURRENTLY FOCUSED ON UNDERSTANDING THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM AND THE IMMUNE SYSTEM. ALSO STUDIES THE CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR MECHANISMS INVOLVED IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF MICROCEPHALY CAUSED BY ZIKA VIRUSES IN EXPERIMENTAL MODELS. HE WAS PROFESSOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF IMMUNOLOGY - USP SÃO PAULO FROM 2013-2023. HEW IS CURRENTLY ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF THE NEUROLOGY DEPARTMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS. HAS THEMATIC PROJECT - FAPESP. HE PUBLISHED 71 ARTICLES IN SPECIALIZED JOURNALS WITH MORE THAN 4000 CITATIONS (HF=24). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
