Alvaro Jose de Almeida Bicudo

I hold a degree in Animal Science from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), where I also completed my masters in Veterinary Sciences. I obtained my PhD in Animal Science and Pastures from the University of São Paulo (USP), focusing on studies related to the feeding and nutrition of juvenile pacu and other fish species. My professional activities are centered on the feeding and nutrition of native and exotic fish, addressing topics such as the determination of nutritional requirements, evaluation of additives and ingredients, and the development of feeding management protocols in different aquaculture production systems. I also conduct research on the environmental and health impacts of diets applied to fish farming. I served as an adjunct professor at the Academic Unit of Garanhuns at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) from 2009 to 2016. Since 2016, I have been a faculty member in the Department of Animal Science at the Palotina Campus of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), where I teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to fish nutrition, production, reproduction, and health management. I am a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Aquaculture and Sustainable Development at UFPR, advising masters level research. I have experience as an associate editor for the Latin American Journal of Aquatic Research and serve as a reviewer for more than 40 national and international journals, as well as for projects submitted to funding agencies. My academic output includes the publication of over 40 scientific articles and the coordination of research and extension projects. I have also performed administrative roles as acting coordinator for the Bachelors in Animal Science and for the Graduate Program in Animal Science and Pastures at UAG/UFRPE.
