Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Centro de Energia Nuclear na Agricultura (CENA)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Assistant Professor in Ecogenomics and Environmental Sustainability at the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture, University of São Paulo (CENA-USP), in Piracicaba, Brazil. He holds a Bachelors degree and a teaching credential in Biological Sciences from São Paulo State University (UNESP), and earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Sciences (Biology in Agriculture and the Environment) from CENA-USP, with a research stay at the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO) of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), in the Netherlands. His doctoral thesis received an Honorable Mention in the 2015 CAPES Thesis Award in Agricultural Sciences and, in 2016, was distinguished with the USP Outstanding Thesis Award. He completed postdoctoral research at CENA-USP and at the NIOO/KNAW in the Netherlands. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Málaga, Spain, and an Associate Researcher at the Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON/USP). His research focuses on studying microbial communities in soils from different Brazilian biomes and their associations with plants, aiming to understand their functions and environmental importance, and to provide insights for harnessing soil microbiota in ecosystem maintenance, degraded area restoration, and the promotion of sustainable agriculture. In collaboration with several national and international research groups, his projects currently focus on microbiome studies, integrating ecogenomics, microbial ecology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. In 2017, he was awarded the VALE-CAPES Award for Technology and Innovation in the Young Researcher category. He is a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow. In 2022 and 2023, he was listed among the most cited researchers at USP, and in 2025 he was elected an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
