Miriam graduated in Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country and got her PhD degree in the Area of Food Science and Technology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2011). Her research activity focused on topics related to Agroforestry, Environmental and Food Chemistry, particularly devoted to the study of chemical compounds such as polyphenols, tannins, peptides, volatile compounds and other bioactive compounds in plants, foods and bacteria. After that, she moved to Brazil to work as a postdoc researcher at the University of São Paulo. She has expertise in mass spectrometry analytical platforms and data analysis for metabolomics and natural product discovery purposes within the field of Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis, Environmental monitoring, Plant and Nutritional Studies. Since late 2016, she is responsible for the performance of the Proteomics and Metabolomics Core Facility at the Food Research Center at the University of São Paulo one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (RIDCs) supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), where she also collaborates as a researcher.
