Birthplace: Brazil

Pharmacy degree from Universidade de São Paulo (1990) and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1997). Pos-doctoral fellow at USP (1996-1997) and Harvard Medical School (2006-2007). Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products at Pharmacy School at Ribeirao Preto, Universidade de Sao Paulo (FCFRP-USP), since 1998. In 2009 was promoted to Associate Professor position and in 2019 to Full Professor. She served as Associate editor of Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, Scientific Reports, mSystems and guest editorial member of Frontiers in Microbiology and Annual Review of Microbiology. Currently she is part of the Editorial Board of Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy. She has coordinated the first ICBG in Brazil, together with Jon Clardy. This initiative was supported by the FIC-NIH and FAPESP (2014-2020). She served as president of Graduate Studies Committee (CPG) at FCFRP-USP during 2018-2022. Currently, she is Deputy Director of FCFRP-USP (2022-2026).
