Dermeval Saviani

He has a degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1966) and a PhD in Philosophy of Education from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1971). He is currently a retired professor at the State University of Campinas and research and development, teaching at the State University of Campinas. He has experience in the field of Education, with an emphasis on Philosophy and History of Education, working mainly on the following subjects: Brazilian education, history of Brazilian education, history of education, pedagogy and educational policy. He is Professor Emeritus at UNICAMP, Researcher Emeritus at CNPq and Doctor Honoris Causa by the Tiradentes University of Sergipe, the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and the Federal University of Western Bahia (UFOB).
