Yuri R. Tonin is a Physical Engineer graduated from the Federal University of São Carlos and holds a Masters degree in Applied Physics from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Since 2025, he has been pursuing a Ph.D. at Georg-August University Göttingen, working on coherent X-ray imaging. He spent one year of his undergraduate studies in the United States at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. During the summer of 2016, he conducted research at the Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago). The final year of his undergraduate program was dedicated to a full-time internship at Brainlab AG (Munich, Germany), a company specializing in medical equipment and software technology. His undergraduate thesis focused on Magnetic Resonance Imaging, titled "Magnetic Resonance Imaging Processing for the Evaluation of Cirrhosis and Liver Function." Additionally, he gained experience in Atomic Physics, Nuclear Physics, and Particle Physics laboratories, working with optical instrumentation and simulation, Bose-Einstein condensates, and gamma radiation experiments and simulations. From 2019 to 2021, he worked as an Optical Engineer in the Optical Metrology group at the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS).In 2022, he completed his Masters degree in Applied Physics at UNICAMP, with a dissertation titled "Coherent X-ray Diffractive Imaging: Image Reconstruction Using a Matrix-Based Model of the Inhomogeneous Helmholtz Equation," supervised by Professor Dr. Jean Rinkel.Between 2021 and 2024, he worked on X-ray Image Reconstruction in the Scientific Computing group at LNLS, primarily using techniques such as Coherent Diffractive Imaging, Ptychography, and Tomography.
