The project consists of studying the necessary principles of algebraic geometry for an introductory comprehension of Gromov-Witten theory. The essential elements are intersection theory and stable holomorphic maps. At the end, the student will seek to formulate, with mathematical rigor, some applications to Physics.
The project consists on studying the Hamiltonian formulation of the motions of the pendulum and the spinning top; the first case acting as an introduction to the theory of elliptic functions; the second case as an introduction to the symplectic formalism and the concept of the momentum map.
