André Pitondo da Silva

Graduated in Biological Sciences - Medical Modality (2000); Specialization in Clinical Pathology - Exfoliative Cytology (1999) from Centro Universitário Barão de Mauá; Master's (2003) and PhD (2007) in Sciences - Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (USP) and three Post-Doctorates (2008-2012, 2014-2015 and 2015-2018) from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto (USP). It carries out research activities in the areas of bacterial resistance to antimicrobials, pathogenicity, diagnosis, genomics and molecular epidemiology of bacteria of clinical, dental and environmental interest. He has experience in the areas of medical, oral bacteriology and environmental microbiology. He is a reviewer of national and international journals and projects from research funding agencies, including FAPESP and CNPq. Member of the editorial board of the journals Frontiers in Public Health and Frontiers in Medicine. He is a contributing researcher in the research group of Dr. Johann D.D. Pitout, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine University of Calgary, Canada and several other Brazilian institutions, including University of São Paulo (USP), University of Brasília (UnB), State University of Londrina (UEL), Federal University of São Carlos ( UFSCar) and UNESP, Jaboticabal campus. He coordinated a Young Researcher Research Grant, funded by FAPESP (Proc. 2013/22581-5) from 2014 to 2018. He is currently a professor and researcher at the University of Ribeirão Preto (UNAERP), teaching microbiology classes for undergraduate courses. Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Nutrition. He is coordinator of the Bacteriology and Molecular Biology Laboratory at UNAERP. He is an effective member of the Postgraduate Council (CPG) of the Postgraduate Program in Environmental Technology. He was a member of the Ethics Committee for Research with Human Beings and the Ethics Committee for the Use of Animals at UNAERP (2019-2023). Member of the Biosafety Committee for the Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences courses. Member of the Biosafety Committee and drafting the plan for resuming in-person activities in the context of COVID-19 at UNAERP Campus Ribeirão Preto and Guarujá.
