has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from State University of Campinas (2003), a Master of Science degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from State University of Campinas (2006), a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Genetics from Michigan State University (2011), Post-Doctorate experience in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Tampere University, Finland (2013), and Livre-Docência in Biotechnology from the Sao Paulo State University (2024). He has experience in Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biochemistry/Metabolism, specifically in topics related to Mitochondrial Biology, such as: 1) the Use of Alternative Enzimas for the Functional Understanding of the Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain and to Combat Mitochondrial Disorders; and 2) Mitochondrial Genome Structure and Maintenance Mechanisms. He uses and advocate for the use of Drosophila melanogaster as one of the most important model organisms in life sciences research, due to its low culture costs and to the versatility of the molecular genetics tools available. He was a faculty member of the Department of Biotechnology, College of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences of Jaboticabal, Sao Paulo State University (2013-2025), and currently is with the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of Sao Paulo.
