Marcelo Justus dos Santos

I am an economist (registered with Corecon-SP) with a master's and Ph.D. in Applied Economics from USP, both under the supervision of Professor Ana Lúcia Kassouf, and a professorship in Economic Theory from Unicamp. I was granted the opportunity to serve in the capacity of Visiting Scientist at Harvard University, under the mentorship of David Hemenway.Presently, I hold the position of Associate Professor II at the Institute of Economics at Unicamp. My responsibilities at this institution include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, leading research initiatives, and overseeing university extension courses. I am a founding member and researcher at CEA Center for Studies in Applied, Agricultural, and Environmental Economics (IE-Unicamp), with a research focus on empirical analysis and econometric modeling.I held the position of Academic Director of the Brazilian Association of Law and Economics (ABDE) and coordinated the Center for Social, Urban, and Regional Economics (NESUR) and the Center for Applied, Agricultural, and Environmental Economics (NEA), both of which were affiliated with IE-Unicamp. In addition, I held full membership in the Congregation of the Institute of Economics.Since 2016, I have been a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow, with renewals in 2019, 2022, and 2025. My academic output includes an extensive publication record, with approximately 50 papers published in national and international scientific journals, as well as book chapters in the fields of Applied Economics, law and economics, Empirical Criminology, and Public Health.Currently, I hold membership in the leadership of the Brazilian Research Network on Criminology and Economics, a certification that has been granted by the CNPq.
