Ana Carolina Fragoso Motta

She earned a degree in Dentistry from the Federal University of Bahia (1997), and a master's and PhD in Dentistry (Oral Diagnosis) from the University of São Paulo (2001 and 2005, respectively). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School University of São Paulo (20062008), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Norma Tiraboschi Foss, during which she studied the relationship between chronic oral infections and the progression of leprosy, with an emphasis on reactional episodes. She completed a second postdoctoral fellowship at Brigham and Womens Hospital Harvard Medical School (20122013), under the supervision of Prof. Drs. Nathaniel Simon Treister and George Francis Murphy, focusing on the immunopathological aspects of chronic graft-versus-host disease of the oral cavity. She joined the faculty in 2014 and is currently Associate Professor 3 at the Ribeirão Preto School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo (FORP-USP). She is an accredited faculty member in the Graduate Programs in Periodontology at FORP-USP (since 2016) and in Oral Diagnosis, Oral Radiology, and Imaging at the School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo (FO-USP) (20162026). She is also the coordinator of the Specialization Program in Oral Medicine at FORP-USP (Ribeirão Preto Dental Foundation FUNORP/FORP-USP). She served as Vice Head of the Department of Stomatology, Public Health, and Forensic Dentistry (20202022) and currently serves (20232026) as Vice Coordinator of the Research Ethics Committee at FORP-USP. In the field of Oral Medicine, her main areas of interest include the pathophysiology of infectious diseases, the study of oral manifestations of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, primary and secondary prevention strategies for oral cancer, and the dental management of patients with systemic diseases.
